Shawnee Tomorrow is a community
leadership development program for individuals who are interested in learning more about the community and developing their leadership skills. Originally started by the Chamber in 1989, the purpose of the program is to increase community awareness and to develop individuals to assume leadership roles within Shawnee and beyond.
The program provides a unique opportunity to work on leadership development and to gain access to top business, civic and community leaders who play integral roles in the region. Participants get a behind-the-scenes view of the processes, programs, opportunities and challenges that impact the City, County and State. The program consists of eight sessions, each devoted
to a specific theme important to our community. Participants learn about education, health care, community service and city, county and state government. It consists of eight full day and one half day class sessions from January to May, which participants are required to attend, as well as a meaningful community service project.
More than 300 individuals have graduated from the program with
many serving the community in various elected positions in
the city, county and state along with boards and appointed
committees of the community.
